Childhood Memories: Christmas, Halloween, Fourth Of July, And Barbecue Sauce

For all the people who have fond memories of their childhoods, very few things can bring back those memories more than the taste and smell of barbecue sauce. Christmas always has its own file stashed away in the file cabinet of our minds, and many remember their Halloween fun too, but things like Independence Days at the park eating grilled food and running around with your friends until the fireworks went off at night are just as special. Food is such a strong trigger for great memories, and besides Thanksgiving, outdoor grilling moments always set in deeply.

So often we remember Thanksgiving so much for its general description more than isolated events. We remember mom's pumpkin pie or the great turkey, but it is because we have the same thing all at once every year, and just once a year. Christmas food is the same way, yet we remember our gifts more than the dinner. But backyard barbecues or town events at the park hold those memories tied to food and specific events for that special day.
